SUMMARY
Challenge
Most restaurant website builders are either too expensive or too complex for small business owners.
Target Audience
Food trucks, ghost kitchens, and single-location restaurants without design resources.
Impact
Delivered a validated MVP, brand identity, and live website builder powered by AI. All done in roughly 2 months.
THE REAL PROBLEM BEHIND THE WORK
Restaurant owners didn’t lack motivation, they lacked time, clarity, and tech confidence. Most struggled to update menus, photos, or pages without hiring help.
The research revealed a massive gap between complex “enterprise” builders and low-end DIY tools. We saw the opportunity for something simpler, smarter, and made specifically for the food industry.
Beyond just screens, I created UX artifacts like journey maps, user flows, and user interview analysis to uncover hidden pain points. These helped connect user struggles to business gaps, guiding every design decision for PocketPlate.
HOW WE SOLVED IT
We used ChatGPT and Gemini to analyze market data, competitor strategies, and early user interviews, helping define the MVP scope and brand direction.
In FigJam, we translated insights into product flows and user journeys, then used V0 and Lovable to rapidly prototype interface concepts and screen ideas.
Once validated, we moved to Figma for pixel-perfect webapp design and Relume to build and iterate the live website and landing experience.
THE IMPACT WE MADE
PocketPlate launched as a live AI-assisted builder that lets restaurants create beautiful entire online presence in minutes. The system supports generating menu layouts, content descriptions, and visuals with minimal input.
We combined UX structure with AI workflows, reducing build time from weeks to hours. The result wasn’t just another builder, but a category shift toward accessible digital presence for local food businesses.
WHAT WE LEARNED
AI doesn’t replace creativity, it accelerates it. By blending structured UX thinking with AI exploration, we saved weeks while uncovering insights traditional research might have missed.
The most powerful design outcome wasn’t the product, it was proof that small teams can build full-scale brands and platforms faster with human-AI collaboration.
